Life in a Garage in Varying Seasons – Acclimating to Conditions That Change

One thing Sarah had to think about was how the space would hold up during the changing seasons. The garage was a converted structure, and it didn’t have all the comforts of a regular house, such as proper insulation, heating, and air conditioning. Sarah was determined to make her garage home comfortable, no matter what season it was.

In the winter, the garage would get really cold because there was no insulation. The lack of insulation meant that the heat would escape easily. Sarah used space heaters and insulated curtains to keep it warm. She added layers to her bedding and dressed up more when it was chilly. Sarah enjoyed the warmth that winter brought; yet it had to be her time for rest, sipping steaming coffee and hot cocoa, as well as peace that one found in those secluded tiny little places.

While the summertime, things got difficult again in a garage because of its proximity to overheating since heat is trapped in walls on either side. Sarah coolled the interior space by using fans along with cross-ventilation and reflective window treatments. She took advantage of her outdoor space during the warmer months of the year by using the patio she had set up outside the garage. Adaptability is the key to her success: learning how to adjust living habits and environment in accordance with weather conditions, thus making sure that the garage remains comfortable and quite feasible to live in throughout all the seasons.
