The Selling Decision: Bittersweet Farewell
To the older woman, the decision to sell was one that had been made without much fanfare. The house she lived in for nearly eighty years had served as her home, riddled with memories of an entire lifetime well spent. She brought her children here and celebrated birthdays, graduations, and marriages. She watched the children grow, evolve, and change over time. It was heartbreaking to leave the home she loved for so long, but she knew it was time to move on. Her health was no longer what it used to be, and she could no longer maintain the house on her own.

Despite the sadness that came with the decision, selling the house would enable her to enter another phase of her life in good conscience. So she would opt to take an apartment in assisted living facilities in order to support herself to live comfortably even when under their care. This was an emotional choice for her but one she knew would ensure the best possible future for her health and well-being.
What mattered most to her, though, was that the house be sold to someone who could appreciate its history and treatment. She hoped the new owners would see that beyond the market price, this was a house that had far more value than its own price; it was home to memories and love that filled its walls. When the buyers came to inspect the house, it could be seen that they knew what it was: part of history, a time capsule that needed to be preserved.
