Treasures Beyond Expectation
What shocked me most, though, was the treasures that I found inside those trunks. Rows of gold coins, jewelry and precious stones in bundles already set up in velvet pouches were what I discovered. In one bundle was a necklace with a delicate locket inside it, containing a black-and-white photo portrait of a young couple. Considering the fine workmanship of the jewelry, I thought that it was more than just an ordinary collection-it seemed like one belonging to someone of great wealth or importance.

But that was just the start. Another trunk housed historical relics—medals from war to rare stamps and ancient manuscripts. The range of artifacts with which I was fascinated allowed my fingers to trace and run over intricate compasses, maps, and daggers. It felt as though I had discovered an adventurer’s treasure trove, which he had trekked across continents to gather pieces of history as mementos.
