A Decision to Preserve the Past
It weighed heavily on me-the tremendous sense of responsibility toward all that lay hidden. This was no ordinary room. The vault had been a personal time capsule belonging to a couple, evoking tales of love, loss, and adventure. I decided that the treasures didn’t belong hidden in my basement.

I contacted curators and historians in museums to aid in recording and preserving the artifacts. Some of the artifacts will be taken to museums so that those pieces may be properly and safely displayed for study. However, I will not part with the journal, letters, and a couple of personal possessions-comprising the locket with the photo of the couple. These things were very personal and seemed out of place as another mere museum exhibit.
Apart from digitizing and archiving all the physical objects, I digitalized all letters and journal entries to make sure that such an incredible story about the house and its owners would be remembered for posterity.
