Understanding Childhood Trauma
These results of childhood trauma, such as being unwanted or abandoned, would spur on and on in the child. Surveys have revealed that children dealt with neglect or emotional abandonment suffer from trust, attachment, and self-esteem problems even in mature life. This makes it all the more essential to address such issues at an early stage-not only for the sake of the child alone, but also for the community at large.

Children learn how to form relationships based upon their early interactions with caregivers. When those relationships are strained or dysfunctional it will lead to patterns which will be repeated into adulthood-impacting romantic relationships, friendships and even workplace dynamics. Thus, early intervention would be crucial. Counseling, supportive resources for this child as well as for the family, can break this cycle of trauma.
