Integrating Outdoor Spaces
The couple also exploited their external space to maximize the living environment. They felt that outdoor living was also as valuable as indoor living and didn’t see a reason why they couldn’t make every bit of it. To do this, they designed an even smaller patio or a rooftop garden with fresh air where they can grow flowers and host gatherings. The backyard area naturally flowed out into the house, a tranquil area where to retire, but still close enough to reconnect with nature.

Among its notable features is the rooftop garden. Here, the couple grew many herbs, vegetables, and small fruit trees. Not only does this serve to create a lush green atmosphere but also as a place that would grow food. The couple loves cooking in the house with their own produce and saying that they get utmost fulfillment and self-sufficiency in the small house lifestyle. The garden is well tended and designed to give a feel of oasis in the city, a place to relax from the busy urban landscapes.
Beyond just providing greenery, the outdoor space also plays a huge role in the design and sustainability of the house. The garden helps keep the house warm in the winter and cooler in the summer through insulation; this feature falls under what the couple intends to bring about into their lives-wider and greater sustainable lives. They have fun with this outdoor space and use it as an environmentally friendly means for conserving energy.
